Just to add (from John) the dates for the trip are to catch the ferry from Plymouth on the 28th October and return from Santander on the 29th November. I have recently had the Atom serviced and it has just got it's first MOT. I 've already notched up just under 24,000 miles and hope to add about 4,000 to the total by the time I get back.

Preparation Day -31

The decision to save a long distance blatt through France in November was a fairly easy one - ferry from Plymouth to Santander in Northern Spain instead - booked today. This will be a 20 hour crossing presumably through rough winter seas....ho hum, better make sure the bike is well lashed down. John and I have been contemplating just how secure the Atom and the Beemer will be on board. As the day for departure gets closer (now 31 days away) we are realising just how easy it will be for bits of the Atom (and the bike frankly) to go 'missing' - quick release bits are great on track, but on a long haul trans-continental expedition it's another matter! Perhaps we'll sleep next to them!
